But when I went to iPadOS 16 it kept working. What doesn’t work are gestures like 3 finger up/down/side. Then it worked when both were on public release. Otherwise I'd use the Logic Remote app but sadly it isn't coded for Portrait mode. When i was in iPadOS 15.5 beta it wouldn’t work with my Mac on the public release. This may be the deal-breaker, but the iPad has to be in portrait mode for my idea to work, because the PDFs I'm reading are all full page documents. Currently, I have a small external monitor, external keyboard and external trackpad for the Mini, but they're difficult to access WHILE using both hands on the midi keyboard. At the same time, I have an app that reads music charts (basically a pdf reader) I need to switch between the two quickly. For that app, I need the basics of switching patches (single tap, sometimes scrolling or adjusting a parameter). The LONG story is that I'm a musician using Apple's MainStage in a live situation. I was just curious why the pencil works, but touch doesn't. These are all single tap or tap and drag operations. All the options that would be activated on both ipad and mac are activated, they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, but it just doesnt work. The other profile is signed in with a different AppleID that has about 8 iPads on it. I have two accounts on it, and the main account signed in with the Apple ID that owns the Mac works with Universal Control on my iPad 10th Gen. Both have wireless and bluetooth turned on but have the Ethernet as the priority in Network Settings. I use iMessage on iPad to keep from interrupting what Im doing on Mac. Reddit user kxs8997 posted a video demonstrating their experience using the trackpad of an iPad with a Magic Keyboard to move the mouse cursor and keyboard focus between a Mac, the iPad itself, and a Windows PC. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for the disconnect. Side-car if youre looking for more screen real estate for your Mac apps. Previously I’ve used my Logi MX Master Mouse and Keyboard to hop between the 2 using Logi Options+ Flow, but it’s so much more seamless with UC…until it decides to randomly disconnect. Universal Control must be enabled on macOS: System Preferences>Displays>Universal Control. Universal control has been awesome as I’ve been able to use both with a single mouse and keyboard. My right monitor is connected to a docking station where my M1 MacBook Air is located. My left monitor is connected to an M1 MacMini. I have a dual monitor setup in my office. ![]()
